Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Sirene app ("Sirene", "we", "us") processes and why. We built Sirene to be useful while collecting as little personal data as possible.
1. Information we process
- Location. If you enable nearby notifications, Sirene uses your device location to work out which incidents fall within the radius you choose. Your approximate location and notification radius are sent to our notification service so we can decide which alerts to send you. We do not use this to build a movement profile or history.
- Push token. When you turn on notifications, your device registers an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token with our notification service so alerts can be delivered to your device.
- Preferences. Your filters, favourite regions and settings are stored on your device.
- Diagnostics & analytics. We use Firebase (Google) for anonymised usage analytics and crash reporting, which helps us find bugs and improve the app.
2. Emergency data shown in the app
Fire, rescue and police reports displayed in Sirene come from Danish public authorities (Beredskabsstyrelsen, via odin.dk/112puls, and police RSS feeds). This information is public, indicative, and may be delayed or incomplete. Sirene is an information companion and is not a substitute for the emergency services. Always call 1-1-2 in an emergency.
3. How we use information
- To show you relevant fire, rescue and police updates.
- To send notifications for incidents within your chosen radius or favourite regions.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse and improve the app.
4. Subscriptions (Sirene Plus)
Sirene Plus is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Payment and subscription management are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy; we do not receive or store your payment details.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the app — namely Apple (push delivery and subscriptions) and Google Firebase (analytics and crash reporting) — and only as needed to provide those functions.
6. Data retention
Your preferences stay on your device until you delete the app. Your push token and notification settings are kept by our notification service only while notifications are enabled; disabling notifications or deleting the app removes them from active use. Analytics and crash data are retained according to Google Firebase's standard retention settings.
7. Your choices
- You can turn notifications and location access on or off at any time in iOS Settings.
- Deleting the app removes locally stored preferences and stops further data collection.
- Under the GDPR you have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data — contact us using the details below.
8. Children
Sirene is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
